The 5 BC road trip destinations you need to visit in 2019

Dec 20 2018, 5:10 am

Known for its beautiful lakes and mountain ranges, British Columbia is one of the most breathtaking provinces in the world.

Of course, the best part about life in BC is that so many iconic spots are just a road trip away. The ability to hit the highway and find yourself on a mountain (or in a forest, or on a beach) within hours is truly magical.

But here’s the thing about road trips: Sometimes they can be long. What if there was a way you could sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery along the way?Ebus, a Canadian, family-owned transportation company operating bus services in Alberta since 2011, has recently expanded their passenger service to include routes between Vancouver and Kelowna and Kamloops (with several stops in between).

With free wi-fi and power outlets, you can stay connected during your travels. Rather than having to worry about keeping your eyes on the road, you can work remotely, connect with your friends and family, or even catch up on your favourite shows. We’ve compiled a list of some of the must-visit spots in BC — and all of them can be reached in the comfort of an Ebus. Bon voyage!

Visit the wineries in Kelowna

Okanagan Valley Wineries

The largest city in the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is known for its beautiful beaches, warm waters, and of course, its surrounding wineries. Kelowna experiences far milder winters than the rest of Canada, making it a top destination in both summer and the cooler months. Having a large number of unique shops, cultural shows, and recreational opportunities for visitors, there is no question why it is a must-visit destination while in BC.

Embrace the winter in Kamloops

Cross Country Skiing/Tourism Kamloops

A city for every season, Kamloops certainly shines during the winter. If you love winter sports, you can carve into the powder or cross-country ski by moonlight. If you prefer your activity at a more relaxed pace, you can snowshoe through the beautiful trails — pack a hot chocolate and make a day of it.

There are plenty of trails to hit, and an abundance of activities to do for any skill level in Kamloops! Ebus also allows passengers to bring ski or snowboarding gear as part of their luggage, as long as they are packed properly.

Spend time at the craft breweries in Abbotsford

Field House Brewing

From authentic farm experiences to fun family attractions such as Castle Fun Park in Abbotsford, there are plenty of things to do in the area all year round. Abbotsford is also home to some of the coolest breweries in British Columbia, so you definitely need to check this one off your list. Head over to Field House Brewing for its hip decor and laid back atmosphere — and some seriously great brews.

Visit the scenic sites in Hope

Located between two mountain ranges, Hope is a easily-accessible destination by bus where you can explore some of the most beautiful scenery in BC. There are breathtaking rainforests, mountains, alpine meadows, and rivers — all within a half hour of Hope. Be sure to take a bus out to the popular Othello Tunnels, a scenic tourist destination with railway tunnels built in the early 1900s through a granite mountain.

Visit the lakes surrounding Vernon

Surrounded by three lakes — Kalamalka Lake, Okanagan Lake, and Swan Lake — the area around Vernon is serene, peaceful, and a great spot to kick back and relax. With several hikes around each lake and many guided tours available from Vernon for kayaking, canoeing, and boating on the major lakes, Vernon is a great destination for water lovers.
