5 reasons for hitting the Sunfest Country Music Festival this year

Jun 23 2016, 3:39 am

This year’s Sunfest Country Music Festival is keeping with tradition by featuring critically-acclaimed country artists on stage.

The event will run from July 28 to 31 in Cowichan Valley and is the largest country music festival in B.C. and on Vancouver Island. Its strong reputation is due in part to the noteworthy artists it has featured in the past, and this year will be no exception.

Ticket holders can look forward to talented singers such as Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Dallas Smith, Chase Bryant, High Valley, and much more.

We’ve compiled a list of just five reasons why you should check out this year’s Sunfest Country Music Festival.

1. New location

Laketown Ranch is the new permanent home of Sunfest, making this year’s festival bigger and better than ever before. The 172-acre parcel of land will allow additional space for camping, an increased capacity for parking, improved reserved seating, an amphitheatre concert bowl, and an event that blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings through site design. Ticket holders need not worry as their tickets and camping passes will be transferred to the new site without any problems.

2. Amazing headliners

Experience talented singers and groups in one place. Carrie Underwood recently confirmed that she’s headlining this year’s festival, pretty cool considering she’s one of the top female country singers about. The audience will savour striking music from the recipient of seven Grammy Awards. But it gets even better: the festival recently announced its 2nd wave of headliners including Dallas Smith, Dierks Bentley, Chase Bryant, and much more.

3. High production value

Lights, camera, action. As usual, this year’s team is building and curating the best festival experience possible by providing specially crafted infrastructure. Attendees can expect state-of-the-art staging and production, a festival village hub, and much more.

4. Nature

Enjoy your favourite country singers with the beauty of Cowichan Valley. You’ll get to soak up the area’s illustrious backdrop of Cowichan Lake and 360 mountain views at what’s considered to be a supreme West Coast vacation destination. Just pitch your tent and let the fun begin.

5. A chance to unwind

What better way to take a break from the work grind than to hang with your friends without any stress? This is a great opportunity to disconnect from your phone and work projects. You’ll get to spend tons of quality time with your buddies and who knows, maybe you’ll make some new ones too.

As far as music festivals go, Sunfest offers incredible value for its action-packed weekend. Choose between weekend passes, single day passes, VIP, stage pit, reserved seating, and don’t forget – kids 12 and under are free.
