Fresh seafood delivered daily and warm hospitality are on the menu at Yaletown’s WildTale Coastal Grill. The restaurant (from the Flying Pig team) offers a daily “Market Sheet” for fresh seafood selections, which diners can order with mix-and-match starches and veggies as sides. This is not only ideally suited to business folks wanting to head back to the grind feeling sated and refreshed, but it also is part of the Californian vibe of the space and menu, the latter of which has a number of beautiful salads and lighter fare.

One of the most-anticipated restaurants to open in Vancouver this year has finally begun serving its upscale German fare in trendy Gastown. Bauhaus has the potential to usher in a new chapter in local fine dining, and at lunchtime (Mittagstisch) diners can enjoy Michelin-starred chef Stefan Hartmann’s refined seasonal fare in a contemporary, chic urban environment. Look for lighter options, such as poached arctic char, or more substantial dishes like a beef roulade, fish stew, or a classic wiener schnitzel.

Lips Resto is a new restaurant in Vancouver’s West End that hopes to inspire diners to eat, drink, and be social. At lunchtime, Lips Resto is all about bistro-style fare, with a menu divided into salads, soups, sandwiches, and mac and cheese dishes. Chef and owner Curtis “Lips” Demyon is particularly enthusiastic about their sandwiches (like the cheeky LFC–lemongrass fried chicken–named for and inspired by nearby KFC and other Vietnamese eateries). Pair the meal with the approachable cocktails from the bar.

Over in Kitsilano, Ramen Danbo has recently opened its doors, serving up steaming bowls of specialty broth and swimming with their signature thin noodles. Customers can tweak their order in a series of ways to customize their ramen experience, selecting how firm they want their noodles, how thick and spicy the broth, and how much lard goes in their dish. Add-ons include soft boiled eggs, seaweed, mushrooms, and extra pork. Expect a line, and a lot of din in the small, sparsely-decorated space.

At lunch, dig into housemade sausages and perogies, steamed mussels, or a Caesar salad with grilled Romaine.
