5 most popular new Vancouver restaurants (according to Instagram)

Dec 20 2017, 4:45 am

We certainly eat with our eyes first, and in Vancouver we not only love eating, but we love taking photos and sharing what we’re eating on Instagram. That’s why we do a weekly round-up of our favourite ones tagged #vcbfood (and why you’ll find us over on our own new @vcbfood Instagram sharing the love.)

When it comes to trends, there are some clear winners at any given time in the city, based on just how many Instagram photos showcase a restaurant and their signature eats. Here are five of the most popular new Vancouver restaurants, based on how frequently their eats show up on our #vcbfood Instagram feed.

Off the Grid Waffles

This waffle shop on Kingsway opened in November last year, and among their instant Instagram hits are their stunning milkshakes, often crowned with one of their waffles as garnish.

Snowy Village Dessert Café

Richmond’s Snowy Village opened in January, and specializes in Patbingsu (Bingsoo), which is a Korean shaved ice and red bean dessert, and the glistening, piled-high cups of cold goodness make for quite the photogenic (and tasty) subject. Also getting lots of love are their Croissant Tayaki, with a fish stamped into its crunchy-sweet exterior and its insides filled with a choice of ingredients, like red bean, custard, Nutella, and more.

Popbar

Because gelato on its own wasn’t good enough, we needed to put it on a stick to take it to the next level. Popbar is indeed gelato on a stick, offering tons of custom hacks to give you the ultimate gelato experience. Located at Metrotown, this is Canada’s second location of the NY-based gelato shop.

Field & Social

Farm-fresh ingredients, a bright and cheery industrial-chic dining area, and salads that beg for their close-up are drawing people to downtown’s Field & Social.

Ramen Gojiro

Another ramen shop in Vancouver has captured everyone’s tastebuds, and smartphone lenses. Ramen Gojiro is from the same team that brought us Ramen Butcher, only here they specialize in Jiro-style ramen, which is all about the chicken.
