Tens of thousands of American visitors have stormed the streets of Vancouver ahead of the much-anticipated U.S.A. vs. Japan match-up for the championship final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Earlier this afternoon, large crowds decked out in the star-spangled flag’s red, white and blue colours streamed down Granville Street before making a turn to Robson Street towards B.C. Place Stadium.
A number of roads in the area were closed due to the impromptu crowds led by The American Outlaws, a group of fans that support the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer team.

There were also further traffic disruptions to accommodate the security needs of the motorcade of U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden, who is in Vancouver to support and watch his nation’s team.
The match kicks off at B.C. Place Stadium at 4 p.m. It will be broadcasted live on CTV and FOX Sports.
Local organizers and the provincial government expect that the uptick in the number of visitors during the month-long FIFA Women’s World Cup will provide British Columbia’s economy with a $52 million boost. Vancouver played host to eight matches plus the championship final.
