After 11 brush fires were intentionally set along a trail in North Vancouver, three more were reported Wednesday afternoon, according to CKNW.

The three fires were reported around 5 p.m. along the Hastings Creek Trail while crews were still responding to the first 11 fires. They were set only 200 metres from the original site.
“They were just south along the same creek paths of the fires we had dealt with in the morning. So there was three more just before the creek intersected with Lynn Creek,” says North Vancouver assistant fire chief Mike Cairns.

All of the fires were doused quickly and there was no damage, thanks to the vigilant efforts of local residents.
North Vancouver Fire and RCMP are working quickly to determine who is responsible for the numerous fires. “Arson is a criminal offence, and the North Vancouver RCMP is taking this investigation very seriously,” said Operations Officer, Insp. Jennifer Hyland. “With the extremely hot dry conditions we are experiencing right now, public safety is paramount for everyone!”
