Finals get under way in Vancouver this week. That means university students across the city will be settling in for some last minute cramming sessions, and maybe even the occasional all-nighter.
Of course you could just stay at home to study. But for many a steady supply of coffee, some delicious treats, and a change of scenery are prerequisites for late night learning.
So to help with that last minute cramming, here are eight 24-hour joints in Vancouver where you can study into the wee hours.
Vancouver
Breka Cafe
With three locations to choose from – two downtown and one on Fraser Street – it’s easy to find a spot nearby. The coffee is hot, the desserts are delicious (hello, mango passion fruit mousse), and the study opportunities are endless. Where: 818 Bute Street, 855 Davie Street, 6533 Fraser Street, Vancouver
Calhoun’s Bakery and Café

Calhoun’s is a UBC and Kitsilano mainstay. The café offers hot, caffeinated beverages, as well as smoothies, beer, and wine, should you need a little break from your studies. Beyond just typical café fare, Calhoun’s also offers hot meals, sandwiches, soups, and pastas.
Where: 3035 West Broadway, Vancouver
The Naam
A Vancouver classic, The Naam serves up hot vegetarian and vegan food into the wee hours of the morning in the heart of Kitsilano. Be warned, if you need quiet to study, avoid The Naam from 7 to 10 p.m. when they have live music. Where: 2724 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
Duffin’s Donuts

Duffin’s Donuts had a wide selection of – well – donuts, as well as Vietnamese and Mexican fare, and loads of delicious sandwiches. A good place to study, but beware of the drunk crowd that tends to roll in at around 3 a.m.
Where: 1391 East 41st Avenue, Vancouver

Siegel’s Bagels
230 am Reuben in Sundried Tomato Bagel. Found this 24 hour spot! . . . #SiegelsBagels #HotAndFresh #Kitsilano #Vancouver A photo posted by SSG (@doublesgphotos) on
What could be better than delicious, soft, warm Montreal-style bagels while you’re cramming for an exam? Nothing. So take solace in some comforting carbs while you study at Siegel’s Bagels any time of the day or night. Only the Kitsilano location is open 24 hours.
Where: 1883 Cornwall Avenue, Vancouver
