Vancouver is definitely beginning to look a lot like the North Pole with all of this snow, but it shouldn’t stop you from getting out there and doing something fun this weekend.

Here are 21 things to do in Vancouver this weekend, Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.

Saturday, December 10

Vancouver Christmas Market 2016

  • What: The Vancouver Christmas Market returns for 2016 with a bigger edition of old country tradition at its brand new home at Jack Poole Plaza. Making things merry and bright at the expansive seaside site, visitors are invited to indulge in the authentic German market’s array of mouth-watering delicacies and so much more.

  • When: From November 26 to December 30; open daily 11 am to 9 pm, closed 6 pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day

Hour of Code: Minecraft

  • What: In partnership with Microsoft Vancouver, Kids Code Jeunesse is offering a free Hour of Code workshop featuring a Minecraft lesson plan from Code.org for kids 8 to 12 years old.
  • Where: Microsoft Vancouver – 7th Floor of 725 Granville Street, Vancouver

Got Craft? Holiday Edition 

  • What: Need a break from the mall this holiday season? Got Craft? is the place to be. The market is a modern twist on the conventional craft fair. This year’s holiday event will feature over 75 handmade designers, craft workshops, tasty treats, music, and free swag bags!

Fresh Air Cinema Christmas Drive-In

Christmas Drive-In/Fresh Air Cinema

  • What: Fresh Air Cinema has set up its Christmas Drive-In to show off all your favourite holiday movies. The drive-in features two different shows each night, one at 7 pm and one at 9:30 pm, for the two weekends it’s open. The shows will run in all weather, so make sure your car is water-tight. The drive-in will also have movie fare like popcorn, candy, and food trucks.

Shirley Gnome: Live at Havana

  • What: Known for her clever lyrics, honest insights, and gorgeous voice, Shirley Gnome sings it loud and proud with “the voice of an angel dry-humping a cloud.” Be warned, this award-winning, taboo, sexually empowering comedy is not for the faint of heart.

Something to Treasure – A Good Noise Christmas

  • What: Continuing the choir’s beloved seasonal tradition, Something To Treasure A Good Noise Christmas will feature spirited gospel-infused Christmas songs and carols, and as an added treat, Good Noise presents a dynamic new vocal ensemble as guest artists – The Alumni Project.

Nutcracker on Robson Street

Winter’s Dance/Robson Street Business Association

  • What: The Robson Street Business Association, My Loud Speaker, and Small Stage have all come together to create a 15-minute version of The Nutcracker in a distinct Robson Street style. The event, called Winter’s Dance, will be unveiled on Robson Street on Saturday, December 10. Six eight foot by eight foot screens will be set up on Robson Street between Burrard and Bute, and the performance will be repeating on the screens between 6 and 9 pm.
