2015 GRAMMY nominations announced

The 2015 GRAMMY nominations were announced Friday morning with British singer Sam Smith leading the pack with five nominations.

While some of the most anticipated categories have been reported, the GRAMMYs is staggering the announcements via Twitter between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. EST. A list of all the nominees, except one, will be available on GRAMMY.com later today.

The final category, Album of the Year, will be announced tonight during the holiday special A Very GRAMMY Christmas on CBS (on CityTV in Vancouver).

This year’s nominations mark some historic accomplishments. Beyonce, with only one nomination this year so far, has surpassed Dolly Parton as the most GRAMMY-nominated woman with 47 nods and Taylor Swift has earned her 20th nomination since 2008. This year also marks rock band, U2’s, 47th nomination since 1988.

The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards airs on Feb 8 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
