2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala features Kevin O'Leary

The 2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala’s VIP attendees will get to meet Mr. Wonderful (Kevin O’Leary, who’s known best from Dragon’s Den), and hear a keynote speech delivered by him. There will also be a wine tasting event, and a silent auction.

“The 2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala aims to bring together members of the business community in support of charities that are creating a positive impact close to home.”

This event is hosted by Raymond James Ltd.’s Tycuda Group, along with the Facet Advisors, and the R.D.M. Lawyers.

The 2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala will be donating to charities that operate in the Lower Mainland. The event’s organizers have selected charities which have “personally impacted the lives of members of the hosting firms.”

Here are the charities that will benefit from the event:

  • Canadian Cancer Society: “The C.C.S. is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life for people living with cancer. The Society’s vision is [to create] a world where no Canadian fears Cancer. For more information please visit: www.cancer.ca.”
  • Canadian Cancer Society’s Camp Goodtimes: “Camp Goodtimes is an internationally acclaimed and accredited summer recreation program that provides a unique summer experience for children and teens with cancer, and their families. Set in the scenic landscape of Loon Lake [in] Maple Ridge, Camp Goodtimes provides a safety-minded, medically supervised, fun and entertaining week of activities at no cost.   • Abbotsford Hospice Society’s Holmberg House: “[The] Abbotsford Hospice Society (A.H.S.) provides emotional and social support for people who are dying, as well as children, teens and adults [who are] grieving the death of a loved one. Since 1986, without a single residential bed, A.H.S. has offered services such as one-to-one and family counselling, support groups, crisis debriefing, expressive therapies, music and play therapy for grieving children and support for teens. Additionally, A.H.S. offers public education, outreach, a comprehensive lending library and community referrals. Construction is well under way for Holmberg House, which will be the first adult hospice residence in Abbotsford, with 10 patient suites and 2 family suites. Hospice is an ideal complement of essential medical services and a home-like environment where patients and their families can spend quality, meaningful time, when time is most precious.   • Canuck Place Children’s Hospice: “Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is B.C.’s pediatric palliative care provider, delivering care in respite and family support, pain and symptom management, 24-hour province-wide phone consultation and in-house clinical care, art and education, recreation therapy, grief and loss counselling including music and play therapy, and end-of-life care to [more than] 500 children and teens with life-threatening illnesses and their families across the province. Through the investment of the community, our talented team and over 325 energetic volunteers, we make a lasting difference in the lives of children and the families who love them. The 2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala organizers are glad to have a chance to draw credit to these charities, and to support them for “the work they do within our communities.”

Each cent that the event earns from donations and proceeds will be given to the charities listed above.

2014 Fraser Valley Spring Business Gala Ticket and Event Information

Tickets for the event are by donation; the minimum donation is $50. A “very small” number of VIP tickets are also available by donation, but for at least $200 per ticket. Priority for the VIP tickets are given to business owners, and executives. The VIP tickets will include time with O’Leary prior to the event, as well as a one-on-one photo op. The VIP event will also feature complementary canapés, a wine tasting event that three Fraser Valley-based wineries (Blackwood Lane, Township 7, Chaberton Estate) will be contributing to, and a silent auction that supporting organizations will be hosting.
