This year the annual Illuminares Lantern Festival(one of Vancouver’s popular summertime events) will be taking place in Storyeum in Gastown. Public Dreams (producer of this event and other great events such as my favourite the parade of lost souls) decided to move the annual art and light festival from Trout Lake Park  in East Vancouver to the W2 Storyeum in Gastown. The festival goes down this Saturday July 24, from 4 to 10 p.m.

Illuminares is a celebration of art and light and will feature processions and lots of performances in the cobbled streets of Gastown. Look out for jugglers, drum circles, fire performers, stilt walkers and much more as the day turns to night and lanterns illuminate the historic streets of Gastown. This is a family event, so bring the kids.
About 30 000 people attend this festival each year and with the move to Gastown, I wonder how many will attend this year, the festivals 21st year.
