20 things to do in Vancouver this week: June 20 to 24

The sun is shining again! In between getting back to the beach or just basking in the park, there’s a whole heap of events going on in Vancouver for you to check out.

Here are 20 things to do in Vancouver this week, from learning the basics of 3D printing to kicking back to some of the best freestyling hip hop artists in our city.

Monday, June 20

3D Printing for Beginners Workshop

  • What: A workshop for anyone who wants to learn more about 3D printing, 3D printers and how they work. It will also discuss ways that artists are using 3D printing for their creative projects and look at ways to incorporate it into other artforms.

Pecha Kucha

Creative Weaving with Debra Sparrow

Mustang

  • What: This Oscar-nominated Turkish film tells of the fallout when five sisters’ harmless horseplay on the beach with a group of boys is misinterpreted as some form of sexual adventurism by the adults charged with raising them “correctly.”

Om the Pier

  • What: A free mass yoga session on the North Shore with Clara Roberts-Oss, Christie Baumgartner and lululemon, to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. All abilities welcome, just bring your own mat.

Pop-Up City Hall at Trout Lake

  • What: This two-hour workshop organized by DOC BC will feature a case-study of drone videography by Grant Baldwin, a director, cinematographer, editor, and composer based in Vancouver.

When We Were Kings

  • What: In honour of the extraordinary life lived by athlete, activist and cultural icon Muhammad Ali, the Rio are screening this Oscar-winning portrait of “The Greatest,” covering events leading up to his infamous fight against George Foreman.

BECOMING, a co-exhibition of new artwork

Vancouver International Jazz Festival

CycleHack Vancouver 2016

  • What: Listen to speakers, get prototype ideas, and design new ways to improve cycling for everyone – in 48 hours. All ideas can then be shared on the CycleHack Open Source Catalogue for the world to see, share and use in their own cities.

The Cypher
