Fireworks and ziplining for free? You can have it all at Canada’s massive 150th birthday celebration in Surrey this July – hosted by the City of Surrey.

Falling on Saturday, July 1 this year, Canada Day will be bigger and better than ever before at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre. In fact, it will be the largest Canada Day Celebration in Western Canada – with more than 100,000 people expected to attend.

Crowd/Surrey Canada Day

Custom fireworks brand GFA PYRO is bringing a spectacular fireworks display to the celebration for onlookers to enjoy. Gaze at the sky as it illuminates before your eyes starting at 10:30 pm.

You can also check out Surrey’s Canada Day celebrations from an aerial perspective by ziplining above the crowds, 270 metres high in the air – with absolutely no charge.

Award-winning Canadian rock band Hedley is headlining the event and performing on the Canada 150 stage presented by Tim Hortons, so that means you can rock out in the crowd. For more than 10 years the BC band has won over fans with it energetic, lyrical songs. And that’s because the band puts on a pretty impressive show.

Additional musicians will be playing tracks throughout the day at the event. So, you can dance as much as you like while listening to the likes of Canadian reggae fusion group Magic!, Chilliwack, Good for Grapes, One More Girl, DJ Flipout, Sway, and Sam the Astronaut.

The diverse Canada Day event offers something for everyone. This includes the Canada 150 zone where you’ll find crafts and amazing shows by local First Nations performers, hoop dancers, and French-Canadian artists. Additionally, there will be amusement rides, play areas, a sports zone, and storyville area for toddlers. Oh, and don’t forget about the diverse array of food trucks.

Additionally, KPU will be there with their digital photo booth so you can stop by, dress up in some hilarious accessories, and get a free Canada Day souvenir. All you have to do is wear your biggest smile.
