With Vancouver Fashion Week taking place just twice a year, Vancouver’s fashion pack have plenty of time to carefully craft their genius ensembles. Unlike last season though, we had a lot more rain, which meant some annoying outfit constraints. The sartorial energy wasn’t as alive outside the tents on those rainy days but the caliber of street style on the sunny ones was enviably genius. From the style extroverts that left no trend untouched to the introverts that kept it understated yet cool, Vancouver Fashion Week brought an incredibly diverse group of people together this season.
Each day of the week brought a different vibe as many guests wore looks inspired by the designers showing that day. This was especially apparent on Saturday when Indian designer, Shravan Kumar showed his stunningly woven and exquisite designs. Alex S. Yu was another designer that inspired showgoers’ outfits. People can’t get enough of this up-and-comer’s candy-coated and fantasy-inspired designs. Brunette Showroom brought rocker vibes on Thursday as they strutted models down the runway in sweatshirts adorned with ‘fries before guys’ and ‘brunette is the new black’. Their stylish posse of people brought an equally edgy vibe to fashion week that night.
The weekend ushered in a more diverse crowd, where showgoers weren’t so shy to show off their personal style – edgy and out there or minimalist and effortless, we saw and captured a bit of everything. From neons and pastels to punchy primarys and clean palettes, no colour (or shade) seemed to be off limits this season.
Fashion week came and went quicker than our #OOTD’s but what it left us with was some serious outfit inspiration to take straight into spring. Scroll down to see the best street style looks we scouted at fashion week this season.
