Vancouver and the surrounding area has some great restaurants, but make sure you take advantage of everything Vancouver has to offer. Take a peek at my suggestions to win over that special someone this Fall. Step outside of the typical and do something a bit different. If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comment box.

1. Drive-in Movie Theatre
Twilight Drive-in in Langley is open till the end of November, rain or shine. Make sure your radio is in working order, and take your lady or man on a whirl through the past.

2. Driving Range
Vancouver is home to many driving ranges. Take your date out on a crisp afternoon for some friendly competition.

3. Explore a Local Art Gallery
Head out to Gastown or one of the neighbouring cities and check out some of the smaller, more intimate art galleries featuring local artists. Follow up with a coffee or desert.

4. Hiking in Lynn Valley
If you’re the outdoorsy-type drive out to North Vancouver and explore the beautiful landscape of the North Shore, and check out the Suspension Bridge free of charge.

5. Granville Island Brewery
Inquiring minds will love this. Head over to Granville Island for a tour of the brewery. These tours take place daily and include a tasting of four different types of beer.

6. Science World After Dark
Check out Science World after hours. In an adult only setting, explore your digestive system, or the history of B.C. Flora and Fauna. For a limited time Bodyworks will be displayed. Head over in the evening, pick up a drink at the cash bar, and test your scientific knowledge.

7. Boating
Rent a boat, pack a thermos and blanket, and head out and explore English Bay. Nothing beats a sunset on the water.

8. Philosopher’s Cafe
Perfect for those that want to challenge their date intellectually. Look in your community newspaper for upcoming Philosopher’s Café. Many take place on Commercial Drive. Find one that tackles a subject that you find interesting, and participate if you feel comfortable.

9. Raw Canvas
Eat. Drink. Make Art. That’s the motto at Raw Canvas in Yaletown. This unique little hot spot is perfect for drinks and letting out your inner artist. Have some wine and tapas, and if you feel up to it buy a canvas, throw on a smock and get messy.

10. Go-Karting
Head out to Richmond if you feel like getting on a track and racing around in a Go-Kart. Affordable rates, and a fun way to get to know someone.

11. Vancouver Fringe Festival
From September 9 – 19, check out some live theatre at one of the many venues all over the city. This year’s Fringe Festival will feature over 600 performances by more than 80 groups over 11 days, and is expected to attract nearly 30,000 attendees. It’s a great alternative for those looking to watch a movie or check out a concert.
