A “young male” is dead following a shooting that occurred in Scarborough on Monday afternoon, according to Toronto police.
Officials say that they were called for reports of multiple gunshots sounding near Markham and Ellesmere Roads around 3:45 pm.
On scene, officers reportedly found a young male victim with a gunshot wound that — at the time — appeared to be serious. He was taken to a trauma centre by paramedics.

Later, police said that the victim’s injuries were declared to be life-threatening, and that one person was in custody in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Just before 6 pm, officers said that the young man had succumbed to his injuries. They also said the Homicide Squad would be taking over the investigation.
