31-year-old woman charged after 2-year-old boy's fatal fall from balcony

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested and charged following the death of a two-year-old boy in July.

According to Toronto Police, on July 28, 2020, at approximately 5 pm, a two-year-old boy was sleeping in his apartment in the Driftwood Avenue and Yorkwoods Gate area.

A woman left the apartment for unknown reasons, leaving the boy alone. While she was away, he fell from the window of the 14th floor apartment.

The boy was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say she has been arrested and charged with causing death by criminal negligence, and parent/spouse not providing necessaries of life-endanger.

Police have not identified the woman.
