A new outdoor light experience is bringing festive cheer to the Royal Botanical Gardens for the final month of 2020.

Winter Wonders will illuminate the garden’s Hendrie Park from Wednesdays to Sundays until January 3, 2021.

The experience takes visitors through a 1.5 kilometre path decorated with mistletoe, reindeer, and nearly 10,000 twinkling lights. Seven displays throughout the pathway tell stories of “unique winter wonders,” and explore the origins of popular holiday traditions.

The park’s ancient Metasequoia tree has been decorated with 5,000 mini lights, making for a “one-of-a-kind holiday experience.”

The Shop @ The Gardens is open for holiday shopping, and seasonal food and drinks, including gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate, will be available at the Turner Pavilion Teahouse.

The Royal Botanical Gardens has implemented a number of health and safety measures to keep guests safe during throughout the Winter Wonders experience, including requiring staff to wear masks and regularly sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
