Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Toronto ahead of snow expected to impact the morning commute on February 22.

According to the weather authority, the flurries will begin late Sunday night, and between five and 10 centimetres of snow is forecasted to fall by Monday afternoon.

The snow will be heavy at times tomorrow morning, which the alert warns will likely cause poor visibility for drivers. The high will be 5°C, and the snow may become mixed with rain.

“The Monday morning commute will likely be impacted and motorists are advised to exercise caution and alter their travel plans as needed,” Environment Canada said.

A 60% chance of flurries are in the forecast for Tuesday as well, and Wednesday should see periods of snow or rain. Highs of 5°C and 3°C are in the days’ respective forecasts.

The sun returns to end the work week, though the temperature is expected to dip slightly below freezing on both Thursday and Friday.
