Showers and thunderstorms over parts of northeastern and southwestern Ontario will continue to develop and move to the east through the day. Given the potential for slow-moving showers and thunderstorms and for some areas to receive multiple rounds of precipitation, local amounts exceeding 50 mm are possible.

Note that rainfall amounts will be highly variable across the region and not all areas will receive this much rain. There remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts.

Additional showers are expected through Sunday, especially to the east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and over northeastern Ontario.

Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas.

Don't drive through flooded roadways.

Avoid low-lying areas. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Conditions are favourable for the development of waterspouts early Sunday morning through Sunday night. There is the potential that the risk of waterspouts will continue into Monday as well.

Waterspouts sometimes appear as funnel clouds with swirling water visible near the surface.

Waterspouts are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. Under favourable conditions, this weak rotation could intensify and become a tornado.
