All U.S. alcohol being removed from LCBO shelves amid trade war

It’s official. The LCBO is removing all U.S. alcohol from its store shelves in Ontario.

The retaliatory measure comes in the wake of the United States imposing tariffs on Canadian products earlier today.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford warned Americans that Canada would be quick to respond with its own tariffs on U.S. products and a number of other actions, including ceasing the sale of bourbon and U.S.-made alcohol at its government-controlled liquor stores.

LCBO employees at stores across Ontario have begun removing all U.S. products, including wine, bourbon, and other American-made alcohol and non-alcoholic products on its shelves.

An LCBO employee told us they are “in the process of being boxed up” and will no longer be for sale as of tomorrow, March 5.

Technically, the U.S.-made products, including American whiskey, were still on shelves and available for purchase, but staff were working quickly when stores opened this morning to remove them.
