University of Toronto ranked best university in Canada… again

For the fifth consecutive year, the University of Toronto has been named Canada’s top university.

According to the QS World University Rankings, U of T is ranked 20th overall in the world.

The annual report evaluates 1,250 schools in 75 countries, and judges research-intensive universities across “teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.”

Schools are also evaluated based on their research performance and ratings by members of the academic community.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) was ranked Canada’s second best university, and 29th in the world.

Montreal’s McGill University ranked Canada’s third-best university, and tied at 43rd in the world.

Rounding out Canada’s top five are McMaster University and University of Montreal.

Harvard University was ranked the world’s best university, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in second, and Stanford, in third.
