Portions of the TTC’s Line 1 and 2 will undergo all-day closures this weekend and early closures next week for signal and tunnel upgrades.

Weekend closures

On Friday October 23, subway service on a portion of Line 1 from Sheppard West to Wilson stations will end early at 11 pm for track work.

Shuttle buses will be running and stopping at each station, with TTC staff available to help riders along the route.

In addition to the shuttles, the Yonge side of Line 1 will be available as an alternative during the closure.

Stations on the affected routes will remain open for PRESTO sales and fare payments.

“As Wilson Station is not yet accessible, customers travelling northbound on the University side of Line 1 who require an accessible connection should exit the train at Lawrence West Station and approach any TTC customer service employee for assistance,” said the TTC.

On Saturday, October 24 to October 25, there will be no subway service on a portion of Line 1 from Sheppard West to St Clair West stations for required track work.

Replacement shuttle buses will be running and stopping at each station along the route.

“TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station. In addition to shuttles, the Yonge side of Line 1 will be available as an alternative during the closure,” said the transit commission.

As for available stations, Yorkdale, Glencairn and Eglinton West stations will be closed for the weekend.

All other stations on the affected routes will remain open for PRESTO sales and fare payments.

“The TTC will provide a special shuttle bus to accommodate customers travelling to and from Yorkdale Mall. Customers can transfer between the Line 1 shuttle and the Yorkdale Express on Dufferin St. at Jane Osler Blvd,” said the TTC.

On Sunday, October 25, subway service on Line 2 from St George to Broadview stations will begin by 12 pm in order to accommodate a beam replacement on the Prince Edward (Bloor) Viaduct.

Both Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed during this time. However, all other stations will remain open for PRESTO sales and connection to surface routes, as well as Line 1.

Next week closures

From October 26 to 29, subway service between Finch and Eglinton stations on Line 1 will end nightly at 11 pm for necessary tunnel and signal upgrades.

Shuttle buses will be running and stopping at each station, with TTC staff available to help riders navigate the change in service.

The 97 Yonge bus and the University side of line 1 are also available for transit riders during the early closure.

Automatic entrances and exits at Shepard-Yonge Station at Yonge Street and Poyntz Avenue and Young Street and Anndale Drive will be closed.

The entrances and exits at Old York Mills Road at York Mills station will be closed.

As for Lawrence Station, the entrances and exits at Ranleigh Avenue and Bedford Park Avenue will also be closed.

“North York Centre Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes and Line 4,” said the TTC.

Those who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for help.

“While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state of good repair work as well as ATC signal upgrades,” said the transit commission.
