A number of TTC subway stations will shut down this weekend

Toronto transit users will have yet another TTC subway outage to navigate this weekend, when the transit agency shuts down a stretch of track spanning six stations on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2025.

The TTC will shutter the 2.75 kilometres of track on Line 1 stretching between St. George and St. Andrew stations for the entire weekend, attributing this latest closure to ongoing track work.

Making matters even worse, shuttle buses will not be operating during the closure, with the TTC citing “construction along the route.”

Transit users won’t be entirely out of luck, though, as there are numerous alternatives to keep people moving during the closure.

In an effort to make things more manageable for commuters, the TTC is suggesting that passengers heading to the downtown core should take Line 1 southbound between Finch and Union stations, and transfer to the 94 Wellesley, 506 Carlton, 505 Dundas, 501 Queen or 504 King to travel east and west.

A helpful map has also been provided showing the closure in relation to route alternatives.

Museum, Queen’s Park and St. Patrick stations will be inaccessible during the closure, while St. George, St. Andrew and Osgoode will remain open for customers to purchase and reload fare cards and connect to surface routes.

The coming closure is just one of 38 such full-weekend shutdowns announced by the TTC earlier this year.
