TTC PRESTO monthly pass users will get credits for unused months

PRESTO users on the TTC will now start receiving prorated credits for unused portions of March and April monthly passes as of Friday.

According to the transit commission, as of August 21, the PRESTO credit covers the days that customers did not use their passes between March 18 to the end of April.

“We are pleased the board approved these credits,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary

“Being able to provide our customers with some financial relief towards monthly passes they weren’t able to use to their full extent means they can use this credit to pay their fare as they go, or put it towards the cost of a future monthly pass.”

The credit is calculated by dividing the cost of the full pass by the number of days in the month. For the Downtown Express portion, the credit will be calculated separately based on the service of the DTE buses, according to the TTC.

Customers will be able to receive their credits either by tapping their card on a PRESTO reader or tapping at a Self-Serve Reload or fare vending machines located in all stations, any Shoppers Drug Mart or at the TTC Customer Service Center at Davisville Station.

“Due to the volume of eligible customers and to manage all other transactions, it may take PRESTO until the end of November to process all credits,” said the TTC.

Riders must claim their credits by the end of November which is when they will expire. They can be used per ride or towards a monthly pass.

Customers are asked to contact the TTC if they do not see their credits by December.
