TTC Line 3 to close for track maintenance this weekend

The TTC Line 3 will close for track maintenance this weekend.

According to the transit commission, on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, there will be no service on Line 3 Scarborough as TTC crews carry out “essential track maintenance work.”

“Periodic Line 3 closures are required as the TTC undertakes a complete life-extension rehabilitation of the tracks and vehicles to provide a more reliable and comfortable service,” the statement said.

Shuttle buses will run along Midland Avenue stopping at Kennedy, Lawrence East, Ellesmere, Midland, and Scarborough Centre stations.

And Lawrence East Station will be serviced at Lawrence Avenue East and Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Station will be serviced at Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Rd.

TTC staff will also be available to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station — the 16 McCowan will also be available as an alternative during the closure.

“Ellesmere, Midland, and McCowan stations will be closed but all other stations will remain open for fare sales and transfers to surface routes and Line 2. All local surface connections will continue to run as scheduled.”

The TTC notes that while they do most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete infrastructure, repair work, and ATC signal upgrades.
