Several TTC subway stations to face closures this weekend

Select TTC subway stations on a portion of Line 1 will face service disruptions this weekend and early closures next week.

Weekend closures

According to the transit committee, on September 26 to 27, there will be no subway service from Finch and Eglinton stations on Line 1 for TTC crews to continue the installation of its ATC signaling system.

There will be shuttle buses available along the route, stopping at each station, with TTC staff available to help guide customers on and off the buses.

The 97 Yonge bus and the University side of Line 1 will be available as alternatives during this closure, according to the TTC.

The North York Centre Station will be closed; however, other stations will be open for PRESTO and fare sales as well as bus routes on Line 4.

At York Mills Station, the Old York Mills Road entrance and exit will be closed and at Lawrence Station, the automatic entrances and exits at Ranleigh Avenue and Bedford Park Avenue will also be closed.

Next Week closures

On September 28 to October 1, Line 1 between Sheppard-Yonge and Eglinton stations will have subway service end nightly at 11 pm for tunnel and signal upgrades.

Shuttle buses will be available along the route, stopping at each station, with TTC staff ready to help guide customers on and off the buses.

All stations will stay open for fare sales and PRESTO reloads as well as access to surface routes and Line 4.

Those who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for help.

“While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state of good repair work as well as ATC signal upgrades,” said the transit commission.
