Christmas has not been cancelled in Toronto, as there will be a “reimagined” tree lighting ceremony at the Eaton Centre this year.

On Thursday, a spokesperson with Cadillac Fairview told Daily Hive they are “busy preparing our holiday experiences as we know that many families are eager to join us in safely celebrating the magical traditions of the season.”

To many peoples’ delight, Santa will be coming back to town for photos with kids.

“We are planning to light up cities across Canada with reimagined tree lighting ceremonies at select CF shopping centres including CF Toronto Eaton Centre,” the spokesperson said in a written statement.

In November of last year, the Eaton Centre unveiled a 108-foot tree, bringing many holiday cheer as part of its annual tradition.

More details will be shared once the plans are finalized, but are subject to change due to the evolving situation with the pandemic.
