Up to 15 cm of snow expected by Christmas morning in Toronto: Environment Canada

If you’re dreaming of a White Christmas, you may just wake up to it in Toronto.

But, it comes with a little extra rain and freezing conditions.

In fact, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Toronto, as snow is expected tonight after rain today and potentially a period of freezing rain this evening.

According to the weather statement, “rain may become heavy at times today before changing to snow early this evening. A brief period of freezing rain may be possible this evening during the transition. By mid evening, all precipitation should be falling as snow, with as much as 10 to 15 cm of snow expected by Friday mid-morning.”

Temperature in Toronto is expected to reach the high of 9°C on Thursday. It will drop to -2°C  on Christmas Eve.

By Christmas day, expect snow and a high of -2°C. Flurries are expected throughout the rest of the weekend.

Environment Canada states that if 15 cm of snow is thought to be more likely, a Snowfall Warning may be issued.
