Spring forgot about Toronto over the past few weeks, but it’s returning and bringing with it thunderstorms and some fluctuating temperature over the course of the coming long weekend.

After a polar vortex and several frost advisories, temperatures are expected to rise again in the city.

On Friday, Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 20°C in Toronto with showers and a chance of thunderstorms.

The Weather Network is expecting up to 10 mm of rain on Friday, as we head into the Victoria Day weekend.

The warm weather is expected to continue, and a high of 18°C if forecasted for Saturday, although clouds are also in the forecast.

For the rest of the long weekend, there will be mostly showers and temperatures will drop to 13°C on Sunday and back up slightly to 14°C on Monday.

But more warmth is on the way, according to The Weather Network.

“Beyond the long weekend, cool weather will continue through Tuesday, but the second half of next week will feature a few days of warmer weather, possibly even a glimpse of early summer-like weather with temperatures climbing well into the 20s,” the agency said. “Temperatures will trend back to near seasonal or just below seasonal for the final week of May.”

So while the weather is getting warmer, maintain your physical distancing when you head outside this weekend, and also bring an umbrella just in case.
