TTC changing its Downtown Express bus routes starting today

The TTC is making changes to its Downtown Express bus routes that operate during the morning and evening rush hours.

According to the TTC, starting November 25, the changes will see the bus routes that previously took Richmond Street and Adelaide Street in the downtown core to begin operating on the King Street Transit Priority Corridor (King Street from Bathurst Street to Jarvis Street).

The TTC said this will help commuters “move across the core as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

The Downtown Express buses and 504 King streetcars will serve separate stops along King Street, so transit users will need to find the correct stop.

As well, an additional fare is required on Downtown Express routes.

You can also pay the full double fare from the balance on your PRESTO card, by exact cash or by using two tickets or tokens.

Service changes will be made to the following routes, according to the TTC:

141 Downtown/Mt Pleasant Express

• New southbound express route stops along King Street at: George Street, Yonge Street, York Street, Peter Street, and Charlotte Street.
• New northbound express route stops along King Street at: Charlotte Street, Simcoe Street, and Jordan Street. A new northbound express stop at Jarvis Street and Adelaide Street East will be added to this route.
• Service on some trips are now extended to start or end at Lawrence Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Road. Check schedules for details on these new trips.

142 Downtown/Avenue Rd Express

• New southbound express route stops along King Street at: Jordan Street, George Street, and Berkeley Street. A new southbound express stop at University Avenue and Adelaide Street will be added to this route.
• New northbound express route stops along King Street at: Berkeley Street, George Street, Yonge Street, and York Street. A new northbound express stop at University Avenue and Adelaide Street will be added to this route.

143 Downtown/Beach Express

• New eastbound express route stops along King Street at: Charlotte Street, Simcoe Street, Jordan Street, George Street, and Parliament Street. A new eastbound express stop at Carlaw Avenue and Eastern Avenue will be added to this route.
• New westbound express route stops along King Street at: Parliament Street, George Street, Yonge Street, York Street, Peter Street, and Charlotte Street. A new westbound express stop at Carlaw Avenue and Eastern Avenue will be added to this route.

144 Downtown/Don Valley Express

• New southbound express route stops along King Street at: Parliament Street, George Street, Yonge Street, York Street, Peter Street, and Charlotte Street.
• New northbound express route stops along King Street at: Charlotte Street, Simcoe Street, Jordan Street, George Street, and Parliament Street.

145 Downtown/Humber Bay Express

• New eastbound express route stops along King Street at: Bathurst Street, Charlotte Street, Simcoe Street, Jordan Street, and George Street.
• New westbound express route stops along King Street at: Berkeley Street, George Street, Yonge Street, York Street, Peter Street, and Bathurst Street.
