After over 40 years of servicing the Toronto area, The Boat has succumbed to the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic and has shut its doors for good.

The event and live music venue has hosted some of the best talents in the Toronto area and the Canadian music scene.

Now, despite efforts to stay afloat during the pandemic, The Boat has become the latest local city bar to be added to Toronto’s restaurant closures.

“It is with extreme sadness that we are saying goodbye to this amazing community. Like so many other venues before us, we had done our best to survive this pandemic,” read a statement posted on their Instagram page.

“We had the best landlord that worked with us through these unforeseen times, but we are unsure what the future will bring for this industry.”

This is the second Kensington Market bar to have permanently closed its doors during the pandemic.

On Monday, November 23, Toronto and Peel regions will remain under Ontario’s lockdown measures for the next 28 days, limiting only essential services to stay open.
