Environment Canada issues special weather statement for Toronto

It sure looks like winter has arrived early in Toronto, like most years.

And Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city ahead of Thursday’s morning commute.

According to the weather agency, a wintry mix is expected for the morning commute in Toronto.

“A low pressure system is expected to bring a messy mix of precipitation this morning,” reads the statement. “Any lingering rain near Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence river early this morning will quickly change over to snow. This snow will then impact the morning commute before exiting the area by mid to late morning.”

Environment Canada warns that the fresh snow in combination with falling temperatures through the morning may cause roads to become icy or slippery.

“As a result, motorists are advised to be prepared for difficult driving conditions this morning.”

It is currently -1°C in Toronto, with light snow falling, but that is forecasted to end this morning.

It will be mainly cloudy with a few flurries this afternoon. In total, Environment Canada is calling for a local amount of 2 cm of snow.

And you’ll need to bundle up, as it will feel like -8°C with the windchill tonight.
