Environment Canada issues Special Weather Statement for City of Toronto

A special weather statement has been issued for Toronto given the amount of rain that’s expected to hit the city today and tonight.

Environment Canada is predicting rainfall amounts between 25-40 mm to fall.

Possible thunderstorms are also in play later this afternoon and into the early evening. Wind gusts could also reach up to 50 km/hr.

The weather system is expected to move on overnight, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 7°C forecast for Monday.

Significant rainfall today and tonight.

The shower and isolated thunderstorm activity that affected the area through the night and this morning is expected to taper off to isolated showers for much of the afternoon. However, additional rain and possible thunderstorms are expected to move back into the area later this afternoon or early evening.

The rain may fall heavily at times. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are possible.

Drier weather is expected to move in late tonight as the weather system responsible moves out of the area.
