Christmas Day in Toronto can be quiet, with most restaurants taking the statutory holiday off to spend with their families, there’s only a trim list of restaurants and bars open on the holiday.

Whether orphaned in the city and looking to mark the day with a festive brunch or dinner, or just observing Xmas like any other day and jonesing for some deli, here’s what’s open and what to eat on Christmas Day in Toronto.

The restaurant at the Shangri-La Hotel is serving Christmas Day brunch for $75, and festive three-course dinner for $95.

Cafe Boulud

From noon to 9 pm, Chef Daniel Boulud’s Yorkville restaurants will be open and offering a three-course prix fixe menu for $105. Look forward to festive specials like lobster thermidor, roasted turkey with all the trimmings, and sunchoke spelt risotto with black truffles.

Get your fill of smoked meat and latkes and this Jewish deli. Both the College Street outpost and location in Yorkville will be open 10 am to 8 pm on Christmas Day.

The Drake Hotel

Join the Queen West hotel for a non-denominational day of Festivus. Open from 9 am, this is will likely be one of the liveliest places in the city serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night.

Colette Grand Café

The French restaurant at the Thompson Hotel is open and offering a brunch buffet on Christmas Day from 10 am to 2:30 pm. Expect stations serving a la minute omelettes, fresh seafood, and seasonal favourites priced at $75 per person.

You can get your caffeine fix here too, or stock up on croissants and last minute Christmas gifts in the café, open 9 am to 5 pm.

El Furniture Warehouse, Queen West Warehouse, and The Dime

All three Warehouse Group restaurants are open on Christmas Day from 4 pm until last call and will be hosting staff, regulars, and locals that don’t go home to see their families.

Get a $4.95 turkey dinner (staff eat free) and then stay for one of the biggest parties of the year.

This old school Jewish restaurant intends to sleep in, but they’ll still be open 10 am to 8 am for those looking to dine on hearty soups, tuna melts, and cream cheese and lox platters.
