The Toronto Raptors have made an announcement on the health of recent trade acquisition Brandon Ingram, who has yet to play for the team this year.

Prior to Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, head coach Darko Rajakovic shared an update on Ingram, who suffered an ankle sprain prior to the trade.

“He’s doing more and more,” Rajakovic said. “He’s done really well. We’re very hopeful that next week he’s going to be able to go through full contact and practice with us. At the same time, we are aware that we’re running out of time with the end of the season coming soon.”

Rajakovic also added that the team plans to shut down sophomore Gradey Dick for the remainder of the season, with just five games remaining.

Dick has averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 54 games for the Raptors this season, but has been dealing with a bone bruise on his right knee.

Meanwhile, Ingram has averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game with the Pelicans this season. He last played on Dec. 7 of last year, and has only played in 18 games all season.

“I think he’s an amazing talent, one of the best shooters in the league. So we’re definitely excited to have him join our team and to learn our style, to learn how we want to play, how we want to share the ball,” Rajakovic had said last month. “[I’m] diving into his game and how that translates in our team.”

The Raptors missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season this year, and carry a record of 28-49.
