Seven schools within the Toronto District School Board are under a Hold and Secure after a man with two guns was reported in the area on Monday morning.

The school board issued a tweet on October 19, at around 10:40 am, stating that, as a result of an active investigation in the area, John Polanyi CI, Cedarvale CS, and J.R. Wilcox CS have been put into a Hold and Secure.

Shortly after, four other schools were also placed under lockdown, Davisville JPS/Spectrum Alternative, Fairbank PS, Lawrence Heights MS, and Flemington PS.

A TDSB spokesperson was able to confirm with Daily Hive that the Hold and Secure is in connection with reports of a man carrying weapons in the area of Allen Road and Eglinton.

Toronto Police issued a tweet just after 9 am, reporting a man walking in the area of Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West at around 5:43 am, carrying two guns.

Police are currently searching for the suspect and describe him as wearing a swat suit, balaclava, and army cap. He is around 5’6″ to 5’8″, and 160 lb.

“We currently have 7 schools in Hold & Secure as a result of this police investigation,” said a TDSB spokesperson to Daily Hive.

“School life continues inside as normal, however all outer doors remain locked.”

Daily Hive has reached out to Toronto Police for more information.
