Police issue public safety alert after attempted child luring in Scarborough

Police have issued a public safety alert after a man allegedly tried to lure a child in Scarborough.

The Toronto Police Service said officers were called to the area of Neilson Road and Ellesmere Road for a “suspicious incident” around 5:30 pm on February 3.

According to police, a seven-year-old girl was playing on the front step of a home when she was allegedly approached by a man who attempted to lure her away.

The girl ran inside and told an adult, and the man fled the area.

The man is described as being in his 20s with a brown complexion and short wavy black hair. He is 5’6″-5’7″ with an average build and is clean-shaven.

The man was seen wearing a grey long-sleeve sweater and black pants and was not wearing a mask, police said. He was also carrying a circular black plastic food container.

Anyone with information about the man, as well as any homeowners in the area with home security cameras, are asked to contact police at 416-808-4300.
