Toronto Police are amping up their local patrol in the Leaside neighbourhood after reports of alleged stalking of a 12-year-old girl.

According to police, on August 21, an investigation began into a report that occurred in the Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Avenue area back in early July.

It is reported that a 12-year-old girl was walking in the neighbourhood one afternoon before a man driving a silver or grey Jeep Cherokee slowed down as he got closer to her.

It is alleged that he drove ahead, made a U-turn, and followed her as she continued walking and followed her for a few more blocks.

Police say that the girl had been followed several times since the first incident on other days.

Extra patrolling of the area will continue by local officers, according to TPS.
