If you’re heading to Toronto Pearson Airport today, make sure to make your way early.

According to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), December 20 is the busiest travel day of the holiday season.

“By the end of the day, approximately 138,000 passengers will have passed through the airport, with many arriving for family visits, or leaving for special holiday vacations,” states the GTAA.

It adds that passenger traffic is up by about 2% at the airport compared to this time last year, “which continues a trend of increasing growth over the last 10 years.”

The airport is recommending those travelling to give themselves lots of time to check in, as well as pass through security.

Pearson is currently decorated with colourful holiday decorations and there are activities to enjoy if you’re there early.

That includes a selfie photo booth sponsored by Fuji Film, which allows passengers to take a pre-flight photo and print it onsite; a special installment of the popular YYZ Live series, organized in cooperation with the City of Toronto and featuring live musicians playing holiday music; and a children’s scavenger hunt booklet.

Safe travels, and happy holidays.
