Downsview Park Friday Night Lights is back for 2020, although this year it will be a little different.

The fourth annual movie nights at the park will be changed into a drive-in experience.

Downsview Park has partnered with MADE|NOUS to celebrate Canadian film creators, which means that all featured films were either shot in Canada, post-production in Canada, and include both Canadian actors and directors.

Here is the schedule:

  • Friday, July 3 – Arrival at dusk (approx. 9 pm)
  • Friday, July 24 – TBA at dusk (approx. 9 pm)
  • Friday, August 7 – TBA at dusk (approx. 9 pm)
  • Friday, August 21 – TBA at dusk (approx. 8:30 pm)
  • Friday, September 4 – TBA at dusk (approx. 8:30 pm)

Shows will take place in the Festival Terrace. The terrace is located at the intersection on John Drury and Carl Hall Road. It has been asked to enter the park at the John Drury entrance and follow both staff and signage on where to go, upon arrival.

Parking spots are on a first come first serve basis.

Movies will be announced approximately two weeks before the date. Registration will also begin at that time.

There will be a limited number of vehicles allowed at the event to ensure physical distancing. Vehicles without a confirmed ticket will not be permitted entry.

Only one registration per household is permitted for up to five people in the same vehicle. Some personal information must also be provided upon registration for contact tracing.

Vehicles must also show a printed ticket or digital ticket to be scanned and checked in upon arrival.

All concertgoers must attend the event in a motor vehicle closed to the elements — no motorcycles will be allowed.

Attendees will also be required to stay inside of their vehicles at all times during the event, except for emergencies or to use the washroom. The park has also asked for guests to turn off their headlights during the movie and not to idle.

You will need an FM radio station in your vehicle or a battery-powered portable FM radio to hear the movie.

There will be no food or snacks for sale, but guests are allowed to bring their own.

All staff will be screened prior to their shift. They will also be given personal protective equipment.

It’s highly recommended that patrons wear a facial covering when physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Portable washrooms and sinks will be available on site along with hand sanitizer.

If heavy rain, lightning, or thunderstorms are forecasted, the event will be rescheduled for a later date.

“If you are unwell, recently returned to Ontario from out of province or country, or have been in contact with someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please do not attend. We need your help to make sure this is a safe event for all attendees and staff,” Downsview Park stated on its website.
