Toronto Maple Leafs getting trade interest on Nick Robertson from multiple teams: report

Nick Robertson’s future with the Toronto Maple Leafs is an ongoing saga.

Despite the 2025-26 regular season getting underway in just over a week, it’s unclear as to whether or not Robertson will be with the Leafs once things get underway.

It’s been no secret that things between the Leafs and Robertson haven’t gone to plan. The 24-year-old has yet to break out offensively as many expected him to and even requested a trade following the 2023-24 campaign. After eventually agreeing to a one-year deal, he put up a mediocre 15 goals and 22 points last season.

Trade rumours once again swirled around the undersized winger throughout the summer, though he and the Leafs were able to come to terms on a one-year deal worth $1.825 million.

That contract, however, doesn’t mean that fans should expect Robertson to spend the season with the Leafs. There are still plenty of trade rumours circling him, with Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects saying several Western Conference teams, including the San Jose Sharks, have expressed interest.

Robertson, who was selected in the second round of the 2019 draft, started generating a ton of buzz in his final OHL season, one in which he scored 55 goals in only 46 games with the Peterborough Petes.

He’s continued to show those offensive abilities in rather short AHL stints, but has yet to do the same in the NHL. Through 156 career games, he’s scored just 32 goals and 56 points.

The Leafs currently have a surplus of forwards on their roster, with the likes of David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok, Michael Pezzetta, and perhaps even Easton Cowan battling for a spot on the roster.

Having several forwards at their disposal may be enough for the Leafs to finally move on from Robertson, though he likely wouldn’t bring back a ton in value given that any acquiring team would be viewing him as a reclamation project.
