Toronto Maple Leafs catch strays from other teams in hilarious schedule videos

Even in the midst of the offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs are continuing to catch strays.
The Leafs are a team that many enjoy mocking, in part due to the large attention they receive as well as the fact that they have a Stanley Cup drought that goes all the way back to 1967. There may not be a team that takes more flak from opposing fan bases, though it isn’t all too often that other teams themselves get in on the razzing.
Following the release of the NHL schedule for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday, however, both the Pittsburgh Penguins and LA Kings took some hilarious shots at the Leafs.
The Penguins made jokes about several teams they will be facing this upcoming season, so it wasn’t a targeted effort at just the Leafs. However, the write-up for them was arguably the funniest.
Written out on a whiteboard for the Leafs under a column that says “Reason for visit,” it reads, “Delirium, psychosis.” Under the next column that reads, “Comments,” it says, “Keeps asking for Cups, do not give.”
From the Penguins’ schedule release, treating the rest of the NHL like a waiting room.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs: “Delirium/Psychosis. Keeps asking for cups, do not give.”

The Kings dig at the Leafs will be great for anybody familiar with the Friday Beers and Empty Netters crew, as they did a skit pretending to make the schedule in a way that benefited the Kings.
While they took digs at several teams, their shot at the Leafs was particularly hilarious, as the crew discussed setting up a game in Toronto right after playing the Ottawa Senators.
“Oh, that sounds like a really fun road trip,” Friday Beers’ Angus Williams remarked. “I bet Leafs fans treat their players really nice.”

While it’s always been known that Toronto isn’t always the easiest market to play in, the entire Mitch Marner fiasco that unfolded throughout the 2024-25 season really helped turn the joke into a slam dunk. Whether fair or not, it seems that there is now yet another reason for opposing fan bases to rag on the Leafs going forward.
