Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, it’s a two-year deal worth US$787k per season.
Pezzetta isn’t exactly the biggest offensive talent out there, with the 27-year-old Toronto native being held to zero points in 25 games for Montreal this past season. A 2016 sixth round pick of Montreal, he has spent his whole career with the Canadiens organization.
What else have the Leafs been up to?
It’s been a busy offseason for the Leafs this week.
On Monday, the team made a pair of trades, sending Mitch Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights while making a separate deal with the Utah Mammoth for Mattias Maccelli.
On Sunday, the team locked up pending-RFA Matthew Knies to a six-year contract extension that carries a cap hit of US$7.75 million. The new deal will pay the 22-year-old forward a total of US$46.5 million and will run through the 2030-31 season.
On Friday, the Leafs inked John Tavares on a four-year deal worth US$4.38 million per year.
