Toronto west end bar launches delivery-only Italian menu

Dec 8 2020, 8:16 pm

A fictional family restaurant has opened up in Toronto and it’s serving up classic Italian dishes to city residents right to their homes.

If you’re looking for a new comfort food spot, Bar Modecai has developed Westside Maria’s, a new restaurant that offers classic dishes, home favourites.

Their menu was designed to be as adaptable as possible, allowing the ability to adjust most dishes to be gluten-free and vegetarian, according to the bar.

“Among ourselves we have several food requirements, be it gluten allergies or vegetarianism,” said Bar Mordecai and West Side Maria’s co-owner Josh Leblanc.

“When we had the idea for this red sauce, family restaurant-type of delivery, we wanted to make sure it was accessible to as wide a range of diets as it could be.”

With the lockdown, Bar Mordecai understood the need to shift its business model to appeal to food delivery apps. Italian cuisine was the way to go.

“As an ode to classic family restaurants, you will soon be able to order a side of colouring sheets and crayons with your meal, or add an “ambiance package” including a taper candle in a wine bottle and a checkered tablecloth,” teased the bar.

Westside Maria’s is open Wednesday to Sunday from 4 pm to 10 pm, for delivery and pickup only.

Available for now on UberEats.
