You’ve made it this far into the week, Toronto. Reward yourself with a trip to any one of these great events. Celebrate humpday the right way, this Wednesday, January 8.

The Next Stage Theatre Festival

What: The Next Stage Theatre Festival is the curated, boutique festival produced every winter by the Toronto Fringe. It’s a collection of some of the best and most interesting performances in the world.

When: January 8 to 19
Time: Times vary
Where: Factory Theatre — 125 Bathurst Street

Bowie’s Birthday: Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars

What: David Bowie’s final electrifying performance as Ziggy Stardust in 1973 at London’s Hammersmith Odeon Theater was captured on film by director D.A. Pennebaker. The HD restoration from Pennebaker Films is the best this (notoriously murky) historic concert has ever looked on film. Celebrate Starman’s birthday.

Admission: $15, available online

Julius Caesar

What: It’s time for some Shakespeare. In the most powerful state on earth, a coalition of educated elites, alarmed at their leader’s populist, authoritarian reforms, conspire to bring him down. After his assassination, a civil war erupts, as ghosts, revolutionaries, and politicians contend with what they’ve done, and what’s to come.

When: On until January 26
Time: Times vary
Where: Crow’s Theatre — 345 Carlaw Avenue
Admission: Tickets $30 to $55

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Winnipeg Jets

Where: Scotiabank Arena
Admission: Tickets start at $108, available online

The Hump Night Show

What: Kick off the new Roaring 20s by seeing blues guitar ace Mike “Shredwick” Sedgewick live. Always a great evening of blues-oriented music, piano man Julian Fauth gets the Hump Night musical ball bouncing. (They also have spicy margaritas.)
