City of Toronto lifts Extreme Cold Weather Alert as of noon

Jan 30 2020, 1:39 pm

Toronto is no longer under an Extreme Cold Weather Alert as of noon on Thursday.

The City of Toronto’s Medial Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa is terminating the alert based on information from Environment Canada.

While Environment Canada currently shows the temperature at -5°C, the wind chill factor is making it feel like -12°C. So it is definitely still cold.

Environment Canada is also forecasting a 30% chance of flurries this morning.

The high this afternoon is supposed to reach -1°C.

But the good news is, it gets a little warmer by the weekend.

The weekend shows some flurries with a high of 2°C, and by Super Bowl Sunday, it goes up to  4°C.

So keep the mitts on, even though that cold snap is over, it’s still winter in Toronto out there.
