New year, new home? Perhaps.

Though, as we’ve heard time and time again, it is expensive to rent in Toronto.

Last month, Toronto took the top spot for the most expensive rent in the country. One bedroom rent increased to $2,260 and two bedrooms increased to $2,850.

But don’t let this discourage you from entering the rental market, because there are still listings in the GTA that won’t cost you a small fortune — you just need to know where to find them.

According to brokerage Zoocasa, there are a number of listings currently well below the average rental price this month, with two listed at $900 per month.

But… they are generally small studios, and in lower levels or basements.

Read on to see the five cheapest rentals currently available in Toronto.
