Toronto catholic school closes after 12 students test positive for COVID-19
An elementary school in Toronto’s Mount Dennis neighbourhood has suspended classes after a dozen students tested positive for COVID-19.
On March 24, Toronto Public Health said it had recommended the temporary dismissal of all school cohorts at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School amid an ongoing COVID-19 investigation.
“We will keep the school community informed as soon as the reopening date is confirmed,” the public health unit tweeted on Wednesday evening.

A total of 12 students have tested positive for the virus at the Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue West school since March 11. Nine of the cases were reported this week.
The school is the second within the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) to close due to coronavirus in as many days.
On March 22, the board announced that students at St. Charles Garnier Catholic School would be temporarily dismissed due to an ongoing COVID-19 investigation.
Six staff members and three students have tested positive for the virus at the North York school since March 13.
There are currently 183 active COVID-19 cases amongst TCDSB students and staff.
