The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t exactly have the best injury update on a trio of players today.
As per Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling, pitcher Nick Sandlin is dealing with elbow discomfort after a recent setback and is still being assessed by team officials.
Nick Sandlin (elbow) experienced some discomfort in his elbow while throwing from 120-feet recently. He’s in Toronto to be assessed by Blue Jays staff.
Club’s hope is Sandlin’s setback is a minor one and he can continue throwing, but it’ll depend how medical staff evaluates him

Zwelling also shared an update on reliever Yimi Garcia, who is seeing a specialist for an ongoing elbow issue in his ulnar nerve.
Lastly, Zwelling had some news on Anthony Santander, who is hitting off high-velocity pitch machines in Toronto while also scheduled to field fly balls pregame on Monday, but is still sidelined.

Santander is perhaps the most interesting dilemma on the list. While he was the Blue Jays’ biggest addition of the offseason, he’s been hurt pretty much the entire time the team has skyrocketed to the top of the American League East. Santander hasn’t played since May 29, dealing with shoulder inflammation.
Who else on the Blue Jays is hurt?
The Blue Jays currently have four other pitchers on the injured list: Alek Manoah, Bowden Francis, Ryan Burr, and prospect Ricky Tiedemann. Both Manoah and Francis hope to return before the end of the season, but will be in tough for a spot in Toronto’s five-man rotation, particularly after the addition of former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber in a trade earlier this summer.
